Winter begins next weekend but the winter sports season is already well underway for swimming and bowling. Here are some of the highlights from the past week:
The boys and girls Bowling teams both shut out South River and Perth Amboy 4-0. The boys added a 4-0 win against South Plainfield. Sophomore Kyle Imperial accomplished something that hasn't happened in 7 years at STA, bowling two nearly-perfect games to finish with a series score of 738. High-scorer for the girls this week was freshman Alex Sardis with a 171.
The Swim team continued its successful swims with a 110 - 60 win over a strong White Division opponent Colonia HS.
Aquinas won 9 of 11 events and swept 200 Free, 100 Back, and 400 Free Relay.
Freshmen Sophie Hardy and Sierra Smith each won four events and and combined with Sydney Zeszotarski, Dominic Lawas, and Anthony Caccione to win the 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay.
In basketball news, the boys team was ranked in the preseason top 25 by njhoops.com, coming in at #9 in New Jersey.
