Young Women Invited to Attend Seeds of Hope Conference
Posted on 01/08/2020
On Wednesday, January 8,2020 Caroline Stanfill, program outreach coordinator for Our Lady of Hope Province, visited with the ninth and tenth graders at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Edison, NJ to talk about the Seeds of Hope Program. Caroline did an excellent job in presenting the Seeds of Hope program to the young women and engaged them in conversation about the role of women leadership in today’s world.

Seeds of Hope is open to 40 young women who are entering their sophomore and junior year from Felician-sponsored high schools as well as high schools with a Felician presence.  There were five students from STA who participated in the 2019 program, one student in the 2018 program and five in the 2017 program. Caroline and the STA Seeds of Hope previous participants shared lunch together and had conversation about their experiences at Seeds of Hope.

The 2020 Seeds of Hope Program will once again be held this summer at Maryville Retreat Center in Holly, MI. During the weeklong program the students participate in leadership training sessions; take part in social justice worships; nurture and strengthen their own spirituality; participate in social outreach experiences by ministering to the underprivileged; and plan their own unique service project to promote peace and justice within their individual school communities.

Mindful of the future, the Felician Sisters launched this uniquely Felician youth leadership program to foster a new generation of leaders in the Felician Franciscan tradition – those who will serve God’s people through faith-filled lives of compassion, integrity and service. Seeds of Hope was designed to cultivate the leadership potential of these high school leaders – our seeds of hope – and encouraged these students to be seeds of change as they return to their schools and carry out their service projects.
