Sports Updates for the Week of 4/29

The weather and the spring sports season are heating up. Check out some of the Varsity highlights from the past week!

The Boys Lacrosse team won its last two games against Newark East Side and J.P. Stevens. In a 6-5 victory over Stevens, goalie Parker McCall had seven saves and four of the goals were scored by Dyson Hardwick.

The Softball team won both games against Old Bridge 3-0 and 17-8 as well as a come-from-behind against Monroe 2-1, which sealed the team's placed at the top of the Red Division. The bats were on fire, with home runs by Allison LaRochelle, Melissa Martinez, Jenna Schwartz, and Paige Tidaback. Alyssa DeJianne added three more wins to her record.

The Tennis team defeated Dunellen 4-1 with wins by Jacob Pil, Lizhe Zhang, and Joey Dunn/Cristian Vozza.

The Distance Medley Team of Eleni Alvarez, Danielle Renda, Lia Acosta and Gabby Toryk placed 5th at the GMC Relays on Wednesday.

The Baseball team defeated South Amboy 8-1 but narrowly missed clinching the GMC White Division title. Gerard Chicirolo pitched 6 innings, giving up no earned runs. At bat, he went 3 for 5 with an RBI. Tyler Kadi and Joe Puerschner both hit doubles and drove in runs.
