The Bishop Ahr High School family showed once again how big its heart is with the outpouring of donations for Thanksgiving.

Approximately 100 turkeys were collected and donated to FISH in Piscataway by Maintenance Engineer George Dietz, Assistant Campus Minister Mr. John Roche and a group of Seniors delivered the frozen turkeys to FISH. The volunteers at FISH were so happy to see them with the frozen birds! There were so many people already waiting in line to receive Thanksgiving food.

On Monday, November 19, a group of 16 Seniors and Juniors accompanied by Campus Minister Sister Cynthia, and Assistant Campus Ministers Mr. John Roche and Mr. Kevin McCarthy traveled to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank, Perth Amboy, NJ to pack and distribute food bags to those in need. BGA students donated much of the food used for packing the bags.

Joining the BGA crew and the Vincentians at the Food Pantry was Bishop James Checchio. He spoke kindly and compassionately to the volunteers and to the clients, bringing a smile to everyone’s faces. “It was great to be able to interact with the people who we were serving. It since it was so close to home, it made an even bigger impact on me,” said Jaleena Findley ’20 of her experience. Bishop Checchio and the BGA volunteers were truly the face of God to everyone at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. “Every year I am blown away by the generosity of the volunteers who work at St. Vincent de Paul year-round. They are a constant source of inspiration to me!” commented Mr. John Roche.

Thanksgiving is much better this year for many area families because of the generous hearts of the Bishop Ahr Family! Thank you, God Bless you, and Happy Thanksgiving!
