US History Students Propose Solutions to Racial Tensions

One of the latest examples of Project-Based Learning was a multi-week investigation conducted by Mr. Matt Roche's US History I Honors students. Students imagined that they were asked by local police chiefs to design a plan to address racial tensions in the United States. The police chiefs believe that by looking at racial tensions through an historical lens, they might be able to have a better understanding of what is occurring in today’s society.

Students were tasked with identifying what they believed to be the most pivotal examples of racial tensions in US history then use their analysis of the causes and results to design community programs that would help stem future occurrences.
