Kelsey Ransom '20 Named All-Big East Defensive Player of the Year

Congratulations to Kelsey Ransom '20, who was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year for the All-Big East First Team. Ransom anchors a Georgetown defense that enters the postseason ranked 13th nationally, allowing just 54.9 points per game. Ransom averages 2.2 steals per game to rank fifth in the BIG EAST, while the 157 career steals she collected in BIG EAST play rank 17th all-time. On the offensive end, the team captain leads the Hoyas in scoring averaging 13.9 points per game to rank 14th in the league in scoring, as well as fifth in assists with 5.2 assists per game to her credit. She was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on February 26 after scoring a career-high 31 points in a win over Butler. Ransom has also been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll five times this season and nine times in her career.
In October, she was selected as a Preseason All-BIG EAST honoree. Overall, Ransom sits among the Georgetown leaders in points with 1,293 (12th), assists (394, 8th), steals (247, 7th) and rebounds pulling down 554 (24th).
